Frequently asked questions

Why enter retirement age in years and months?

Many pension and social-security rules use ages like 66 years and 10 months. Splitting the age into years and months lets you model those rules exactly.

What if the retirement date has already passed?

Days and years remaining go negative, which simply means the retirement-age date is in the past relative to the 'today' date you entered.

How are the years remaining calculated?

From the exact day count divided by 365.25 (the average year length including leap years), rounded to two decimals.
