The two weeks from Monday, January 5 to Monday, January 19, 2026 contain exactly 10 business days and 4 weekend days.

Count the working days between two dates. Saturdays and Sundays are treated as weekend days; every other day in the period counts as a business day.

The period runs from the start date for the total number of days up to the end date, which keeps the count consistent with the days-between and add-days calculators.

The formula

Business days = count of Mon–Fri days in the period; Weekend days = total days − business days

Frequently asked questions

Are public holidays excluded?

No. Holiday calendars differ by country, state and employer, so only Saturdays and Sundays are excluded here. Subtract your local holidays from the business-day result if you need them removed.

What counts as the period?

The days you step through going from the start date to the end date: the start date counts, the end date is the finish line. A Monday-to-Monday span of 7 days therefore contains 5 business days.
